RAISING THE BAR FOR ESTHETICS WITH SINGLE AND MULTIPLE IMPLANT RESTORATIONS

Collaboration between the restorative dentist and other team members is instrumental in attaining optimal prosthesis design and consistent, natural appearing esthetic results for implant restorations. Patients missing single teeth are the largest potential population seeking implant treatment, and the majority of single implant restorations are in the esthetic zone. This presentation will highlight the unique team responsibilities when treating young patients with single implants versus the responsibilities of treating
mature adults. In addition to the oral surgeon, periodontist and restorative dentist, the orthodontist is a key team member in the treatment of young patients. This presentation includes guidelines for treating young patients including appropriate age and maturity, cost and value of implant treatment, and clinical examples highlighting long term results. the discussion also includes techniques for immediate placement and restoration and soft tissue development for adult patients.

Protocols for adjacent implants in the esthetic zone are considerably different from those of single tooth restorations. The challenge is to create the illusion of natural gingival architecture between implants. This discussion explores treatment planning concepts, leading-edge techniques and completely edentulous
patients. Clinical examples demonstrate implant placement and spacing guidelines, soft tissue development and restorative protocols that maximize esthetic potential.
